Department of Agronomy
Agronomy is the core of all agricultural sciences embracing the management of soil and water in accordance with crop demands, enriching soil with organic matter and plant nutrients, choice of crops and varieties to fit the climate, moisture regulation, drainage, weed management, pest and disease management, harvesting and processing to an extent with view to achieve high production of farm produces and improve living standards of rural. Among all the variances in agriculture, agronomy occupies a pivotal position. Similar to agriculture, agronomy is an integrated and applied aspect of different disciplines of pure sciences.
Vision
- The vision of department is to develop technologically superior and ethically strong future leaders in Agronomy with interdisciplinary global perspectives who inturn shall improve the standard of living of farmers and transform agriculture as most economical and business arena.
Mission
- The Department of Agronomy at Lok Bharti University provides leadership in crop production, farm management, pest and disease management, irrigation and weed management, organic farming, meteorology, soil and water science, precision and sustainable agriculture, horticulture and post harvest technology to enhance the quality of rural life through agricultural education that results from research, teaching and commitment.
